AR-15 rifles are America's favorite gun. They are fun to build, customize, and shoot. They've become somewhat the standard for civilian semi-automatic rifles in the Western World. The military uses the M16 and M4 fully automatic rifles, which were modeled after the original Armalite AR-15s. Countless private firearm companies have jumped on the bandwagon and offered their own version of the 'AR-15'. Will our kit template work for these guns, too?
Our AR-15 Rifle Skin template was designed with mil-spec (military specifications) AR-15 models in mind. This is the original design that acts as the foundation for the M-series of military rifles (including A1, A2, A3, and A4 stock versions). For this reason many of the components are interchangeable and work from one model to the next, regardless of brand.
However, some companies decided to make changes to the design, specifically the upper and lower receivers. While these guns will fundamentally function the same and shoot the same ammo, the result is that the exterior will look different, even in subtle ways. Our guess is these brands felt they needed to add their own touch to the tried and true AR-15 design.
More often than not, our kit will work for every AR-15 style rifle, even if the pieces don't match up perfectly with an off-brand variant. Common differences in design include the magwell, forward assist, shell deflector, and pistol grip. With a little creative wrapping, it's not too difficult to install our template on any AR-15 compatible rifle.
