GunSkins camouflage wraps are made from high-performance vinyl. The material is 6/10 mm in thickness and will add an extra layer of padding protection to the surface of your gun. We were very purposeful in selecting a thicker material for the purpose of durability.
When first handled from the kit, the vinyl may appear to be stiff and difficult to conform to the shape of the gun. However, while heat is applied the print side and the adhesive backside will separate, creating greater flexibility for maximum conformability. The vinyl can be stretched, pressed into recessed areas, and pulled over rivets and levers. Once installed in place and allowed to cool, the vinyl will again harden and act as a shield against the weather elements and physical damage.
During the installation process, it may be required to trim the material using a hobby knife. We recommend having plenty of extra blades when doing this because cutting the vinyl will dull the blades fairly quickly. It's not uncommon to use 5 blades or more on a single install. While this may come across as an inconvenience during installation, when finished, that strength in material will be put to good use during the handling and use of the firearm or accessory.
Some of our personal firearms are wrapped in GunSkins that are 4+ years old and still holding up and look as good as the day they were installed. GunSkins are made for use and abuse, taking dings, scratches, water, mud, ice, and heat so your gun doesn't have to.
